Gregory S. Johnson, age 73, a resident of Wheaton, passed away December 30, 2019.  He was born September 16, 1946 in Chicago to Barrett and Barbara Johnson.

Greg grew up in Wheaton, Illinois and lived on Orchard Road. He was a proud member of the Wheaton Speed Skating team in his early youth years. Greg graduated from Wheaton High School in 1964. He attended the Elmhurst College from 1965-1967. He then served his country in the National Guard a division of the Army in 1967. Greg worked for the DuPage County Department of Transportation as traffic engineer for 46 years. He retired from the county in 1992 with a full pension. He loved to play golf and take long walks down the Prairie Path in Wheaton. He took great pride in spending time with his grandchildren. He lived in Wheaton for 50 years and took great pride in his house and community in downtown Wheaton. He also loved History and always believed in people. He was a very generous and kind man to all of those who he crossed paths with. He firmly believed to never give up on someone no matter what the situation. Gregory will be dearly missed. His memory will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his son, Gregory Scott (Jennifer) Johnson; his grandchildren Stephanie, Jeffrey and Gwyneth; his great-granddaughter Abigail; his sister Joyce (Paul) Recht; and his sister-in-law Patti.

Preceded in death by his brother Barrett.

A visitation will be held on the 18th of January 2020 at First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton, 715 N Carlton Ave., Wheaton, IL 60187, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m.
