GopalaKrishna Murty Mallu, age 78, a resident of Hyderabad, India, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023.  He was born June 10, 1945 in Mallavaram, a small coastal village in Andhra Pradesh, India.

GopalaKrishna Murty was the first engineer from his village, Mallavaram. With no electricity, running water or paved roads, his education came through hard work and determination. He walked barefoot 7 miles everyday to school and studied under candlelight. He received his Bachelors in Engineering from JNTU, Kakinada in 1968.

GopalaKrishna Murty joined as Electrical engineer at Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL), Bengaluru in 1970. He married his sweetheart, Swarna in 1972 and moved to Ghaziabad in 1973, Hyderabad in 1995, and worked for BEL until his retirement in 2005. He spent his retirement years traveling, watching grand kids, tinkering and fixing, gardening and connecting with friends. He was intelligent, loving, kind, caring and an inspiration to everyone he met.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Swarnalata Murty; his children Sridhar (Prasanna) Mallu & Sridevi (Joe Ledvora) Mallu; and his five grandchildren: Anish, Ishan, Aarav, Sanjana and Shaurya.
