Goldena E. McGee, age 89, a longtime resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2020, at Amita St Josephs Hospital in Joliet. She was born April 13, 1931 in Ottumwa, Iowa.

Goldie worked as a nurse for sixty years. She worked in hospitals, the county jail, local doctors and DuPage Medical Group. For many years she worked for Dr. Oscar Sanchez. She was an active parishioner at St. John The Baptist in Winfield where she sang in the choir until recently. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and knitting. She was involved with her children as a 4-H leader when they were young.

She is survived by eight children, Sharon McGee of Friendship, WI, Dan (Teresa) McGee of Flint, TX, Mary (Sam) Trovato, of Earlville, Michael (Chris)McGee of Homer Glen, John McGee of Plainfield, Judy Gonzalez of Oswego, Mark McGee of Somonak, and Constance Estrada of Sauk City, WI, 13 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her longtime companion, Melvin C. Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis "Pete" McGee, daughter, Anna (John) Healy, granddaughters, Katie and Michelle, and one brother, Franklin Binder.

Private interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Winfield, Illinois.

A mass will be planned for later in the year.
