Obituary

Gloria Lyko, age 89, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at home in Romeoville, Illinois. She was born on July 4, 1934,  one of four girls born to two hard-working, loving Italian immigrants, Secondo and Englesina Maccaroni,

Gloria's journey began in Melrose Park, where she cultivated lasting friendships and fond memories. She was a proud graduate of Proviso East High School, where she demonstrated her intellect and passion for learning. Her Christian faith was an integral part of her life, and she found community at the Christian Assembly in Melrose Park, where she taught Sunday School.

For over two decades, Gloria dedicated herself to her career at Automatic Electric (GTE), where her commitment to excellence and hard work earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues.

In 1983, Gloria embarked on a new chapter of her life, joining hands in marriage with Oscar. Together, they embarked on countless adventures, traveling the world and creating cherished memories that would last a lifetime. Whether exploring new cultures or simply reveling in each other's company, Gloria found joy in every moment spent with her beloved husband.

In her leisure time, Gloria found pleasure in the simple joys of life. She had a passion for reading, immersing herself in the worlds created by her favorite authors. Puzzles provided her with hours of entertainment and mental stimulation, while swimming offered her a sense of serenity and freedom.

She delighted in the art of sewing, crafting her own clothing with precision and flair. Her garments were a reflection of her unique style and personality, a testament to her creativity and skill.

Gloria's faith remained a cornerstone of her life, and she found comfort and fellowship at Calvary Church in Naperville, where she nurtured her spiritual growth and found strength in her community.

Gloria leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her. She is survived by her two sons, Tim Marcus of Florida, and Mark (Soula) Davis of Romeoville, her step-sons, Thomas (C.J.) Lyko of Arizona, and Kenneth (Susan) Lyko of Lombard, grandchildren, Mark Anthony Davis, and James and Matthew Lyko, and two great-grandchildren, Roselynn and Scarlett Lazich.

She was preceded in death by her son, Paul Davis, two cherished grandchildren, Rose Ann Lazich and Tyler Lyko, and her siblings, Mary Markese, Nancy Fabiani, John Milani, and Caroline Loss.

A visitation to honor Gloria's memory will be held on Sunday, April 14, 2024, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, located at 304 N. Main St., Wheaton.
