Gladys Lakowske, nee Schreiner, 88 of Rolling Meadows, formerly of Arlington Heights, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2016 in Wheaton.

She was preceded in death by her parents George and Viola Schreiner and her beloved husband Wally.

She is survived by her four sons: Tom (Cathy) Lakowske, Bob (Sheila) Lake, Ken (Jody) Lakowske, and Jim (Elena) Lake, her brother, Don(Lil) Schreiner; she was the loving grandmother of Colin, Quinn, Sarah (Thomas) Hafner, Margaret, Mark, Jack, Jessica and Jennifer; dear aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Gladys and Wally met during high school and were married for over 40 years. They enjoyed winning dance contests, fishing at the Oriole Club in Twin Lakes, WI, traveling and family celebrations.

"Wanna play some cards?" Gladys was a passionate CARD PLAYER, especially poker, gin rummy and thirteen. BINGO and SLOTS were her favorites, especially when the stakes were high! She preferred her beverages over a glass of ICE "all the way to the top", noodles with EXTRA GRAVY, "MUSH MEAT" and a homemade CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE.

Gladys enjoyed celebrating holidays with family and was always the first to ask about opening PRESENTS! She cherished her ANGEL collection and frequently summoned St. Jude for lost items! She adored her comfortable Alfred Dunner JEANS and JEWELRY that sparkled! A glowing CANDLE always gave her comfort!

Sleepovers with her granddaughters earned her "COOLEST GRANDMA" recognition.

She was a wonderful mom and generous grandma who will be dearly missed.

Visitation Thursday, February 18, 2016, from 4:00 until 8:00 pm at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL. Prayers and visiting Friday, February 19, 2016, at 9:00 am until the 10:00 am Mass at St. Edna Catholic Church, 2525 N Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights. Interment at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
