Gilmour L. Wagle, age 87, a resident of Wyndemere in Wheaton, died Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Wynscape Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wheaton. He was born on November 17, 1922 in Staten Island, New York to Lawrence and Emma Wagle.
He graduated from Wagner College in Staten Island, NY and received a Doctorate from Princeton University. He worked in medical research in the pharmaceutical industry for his entire career. He served in WWII in the Pacific under General MacArthur.
Dr. Wagle is survived by three daughters, Lesley (Bill) Conrad of Naperville, Gretchen (Pat) McCaskey of Lake Forest, and Pamela (Brad) Bradley of Wheaton, and 9 grandchildren, Becca (Matt) Bryson, Sarah Conrad, Chad (Paula) Bradley, Matt Bradley, Brandon (Libby) Bradley, Holly Bradley, Ed McCaskey, Thomas McCaskey, and James McCaskey and one great-grandchild, Tyler Bradley.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Marie Wagle, his parents and one sister, Barbara Hjorth.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2010, at 10:30 A.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. Friends may visit with the family from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. Interment will be held privately at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery near Joliet, Illinois.
