Gilbert Adolph (Gil) Arosen, husband of Lois (Snooky) Arosen, went to be with Jesus his Lord and Savior in the early morning of Friday, October 7, 2016, at the age of 88.
Born June 21, 1928, to Adolph and Elsie Arosen, Gil grew up in the city of Chicago and attended Portage Park Covenant Church.
He met the love of his life, Snooky, in 1948, and married her on October 3,1953. An extraordinary example of a devoted husband, Gil and Snooky shared 63 years of marriage together. They raised their three sons Bob, Ron and Randy in Arlington Heights and were active members of Mount Prospect Bible Church. Gil loved life and loved others. He had an impact on many, and his legacy lives on in his family. Gil led his family by example as a devoted husband, loving father, and believer in Christ.
An Army Veteran, Gil served his country during the Korean War. He was a man of discipline, an early riser who loved his morning jogs. He was committed to excellence and always took pride in his work.
Gil was the definition of a die hard Cubs fan, a tradition he passed on to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved all sports, especially high school sports. He enjoyed watching Hersey High School teams compete while here at home, and Indian Rocks Christian Schools athletics while spending winters in Florida.
Gil is survived by his wife Lois "Snooky" Arosen and three sons Bob (Charmaine) Arosen, Ron (Holly) Arosen, and Randy (Eileen) Arosen; Grandchildren Lindsay (AJ) Loredo, Victoria (Dan) Basinger, David (Kristin) Arosen, Kyle (Sarah) Arosen, Melanie, Stephanie, Callie, and Cayla Arosen; Great Grandchildren Elianna, Gabriela, and Antonio Loredo and Wesley and Bradley Basinger.
Gil had a servant's heart. He was a man who loved his Lord, his family, his church, and the Cubs. Those who loved Gil knew he would be the first to come beside them in a time of need, and would always keep them in his prayers.
He was preceded in death by his parents Adolph and Elsie Arosen and his sister Lillian Clarke. Services will be Saturday October 15, at
Mount Prospect Bible Church
, 505 W. Golf Road, Mount Prospect, IL 60056. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. immediately followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m.
