Obituary

Geraldine Anna Wilde, age 88, a longtime resident of Wheaton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, March 24, 2016. She was born June 27, 1927 in Chicago to Frank and Anna Szturman.

She grew up in the Logan Square neighborhood in Chicago where she was active at St. Hyacinth Parish and attended St. Sylvester School. During WWII she worked manufacturing weapons for the war effort. She also worked as a telephone operator for IL Bell. During the war she met Harold Wilde through her brother, Edward. They were married on January 11, 1946. They raised their eleven children in Wheaton.

Gerry lived life with a sense of wonder and gratitude. She enjoyed travel and was adventurous. She loved to dance and loved music. She was always welcoming and generous. Most of all, she loved her kids and her family.

She is survived by her children, Richard, Florence Wasserfort, Linda Johnson, Roger, Joyce, Jeff (Joyce), Ken, Cindy, Laura (Jim) McNulty and Sharon (Jim) Neener, 20 grandchildren, Alex, Alicia, Sheri, Faren, Anthony, Jason, Amber, Erik, Brett, Justin, Joshua, Sarah, Ondrea, Bonnie, Dawn, Danielle, Tanya, Mike, Amy and Eric, 27 great-grandchildren, Noah, Grace, Virginia, Ashley, Zachary, Imani, Katalaya, Mirabelle, Christian, Lucas, Evelyn, Rory, Allison, Drake, Lilly, Octavian, Allistair, Devlin, Alexis, Noah, Kendrick, Madeline, Nora, Piper, Grayson, Jordan and Devon, one great-great-grandchild, Brooklin and three soon to be born.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold in 1987 and one son, Glenn, great-grandson, Bryce and four siblings.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 30, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. Prayers will begin at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday followed by a mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church in Wheaton. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.
