Geraldine "Geri" age 74, a long-time Carol Stream resident, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021 at her home.  Her parents the late Stephen and Helen (nee Jedziniak) also resided there until their deaths in 2001.

Geri was born in Chicago on April 9, 1947 and lived in the family six-flat on Milwaukee Avenue above her parents' electronics repair shop, Logan Square Radio & TV Service. She and her sister, the late Phyllis, attended Madonna High School.

After graduation, Geri pursued additional education in secretarial skills then joined Travelers Insurance Company in Chicago in 1965. She had a 25-year career there, rising to Senior Service Representative, a complex and demanding job that she loved.  She continued in the insurance industry at Assurance Agency in Arlington Heights and then at Weiss Insurance in Wayne, Illinois.

After her retirement, Geri enjoyed an active social life, visiting with family and friends all over the Chicago area.  She was a keen observer of current events and loved to discover new things and new ideas.  She enjoyed reading, movies, gardening and crafts, especially creating beautiful greeting cards which she loved to share.

Geri loved and respected animals.  Over the years she was an enthusiastic pet-Mom to three rescue dogs, Holly, Chantel and Jasmine and caring pet sitter for neighbors Heidi and Sweet Pea. Observing wildlife in her back yard was her daily source of fun. Many generations of birds and squirrels enjoyed her daily feasts and will surely miss her early morning breakfast buffet!

She is survived by her dear family friends ("cousins") Teri Radke and Michael Radke, high-school buddy Audrey (Dennis) Ethridge, her first-cousin Arlene Jendrycki, caring neighbors Anita and Rick Carlson, Kristi Hill, Jan (Eric) Smith, and many grateful squirrels.

A brief time of remembrance and service will be held on Friday, October 1 at 10am at Hultgren Funeral Home ,304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187.  Internment to follow at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton.
