Geraldine E. Carlson's Obituary

Geraldine E. Carlson, of Wheaton, IL, went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on March 19, 2020, at the age of 90, surrounded by family. She was born in Champaign County, IL, and grew up in Rantoul, IL. She graduated from Rantoul Township High School, and met her future husband, Ronald Warren Carlson, while he was stationed at Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul. They both later graduated from Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL and were married in 1951.

She and Ronald settled in Wheaton, IL, where they raised their two children. The family loved to travel and camp, visiting nearly every state including Alaska. She was very involved in service and activities at First Baptist Church of Wheaton for many years, including Maranatha, Missionary Committee, and Deaconess Secretary-Treasurer. Later, she was active in women's groups at College Church in Wheaton.

She worked at Wheaton College for 24 years in the Psychology and Economics departments. She loved gardening, and spent hours a day tending to her vegetables and beautiful perennials.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall Raymond Malsbury and Ethel (Crabtree) Malsbury of Rantoul, IL, and by her husband of 38 years, Ronald W. Carlson, her grandson, Justin M. Carlson of Wheaton, IL, and her sister, Barbara Griffen of Rantoul, IL.

She is survived by her brother, Richard A. Malsbury of Tavares, FL, her daughter, Diane Carlson of Wheaton, IL, her son, David Carlson of West Chicago, IL, and three grandchildren, Brockton Carlson Diebold of Wheaton, IL, Camille Kitt and Kennerly Kitt of Chicago, IL.

Memorial service and internment will be private.
