Gerald "Jerry" J. Goris 76, a long time resident of Wheaton, died in Venice Florida on Tuesday, February 28. He was born in Lafayette, Indiana on June 25, 1929 to Clarence and Florence Goris. He worked for Illinois Bell-Ameritech for 38 years ending his career as a division manager. He is a longtime member of the first Presbyterian Church of Wheaton serving in many capacities such as Elder, singing in the choir, and among other things serving as the building Chairman of the latest expansion of the church. He was an avid boater and was the co-chair of the comissioning committee of the USS Abraham Lincoln.. He also served on many committees in the Wheaton community, but his greatest love was his family that he cherished most of all.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jean, his daughter, Kristie (Ed) Arlington, son, Scott (Pam) Goris, grandchildren, Rachel Arlington, Taylor, Morgan, and Collin Goris.

He was preceded in death by his brother Arthur Goris.

A memorial visitation will be held at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Friday March 10. A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 11 at 2:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton, Ellis and Jefferson St. in Wheaton with the Rev. Jerry Landrey officiating.
