George Vavrinchik, age 87, a resident of St. Patrick's Residence in Naperville, and formerly of Chicago, and Naples, FL died Friday, September 14, at home. He was born March 17, 1920 in Chicago.

George served in the Navy during World War II on the U.S.S. Wisconsin in the Pacific Theatre.

He is survived by his son, Scott (Jennifer) Vavrinchik of Lisle; two grandchildren, Anthony, and Michael; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Florence (nee DeMaio); two brothers, Peter, and John; and his sister, Olga.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 16, from 3-8 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, September 17, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Patrick's Residence, 1400 Brookdale Road, in Naperville. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.
