Obituary

George Julius Schuch, age 77, entered the presence of his Lord on Friday, December 7, 2018. He was at his home in St. Charles, Illinois, surrounded by his loving family.

George was born on December 18, 1940, in Evergreen Park, Illinois. He grew up in Sawyer, Michigan, and graduated from New Troy High School. He continued his education at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. He married his wife Linda (nee Geik) in 1967 in Bridgman, Michigan. After two years as a high school history teacher, he began his corporate career. In 1973, his young family moved to Wheaton, Illinois, when he accepted a position with International Harvester in Chicago, where he worked in purchasing, sales, and human resources over the course of more than 30 years.

George was a wonderful family man — a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was social and active for the majority of his life. His family and friends will always remember him as a committed follower of Jesus, lover of life, enthusiastic storyteller, and good listener. Everyone who knew George felt loved and at ease in his company.

Over his lifetime, George was active in every church that he attended. Most recently, as a member of College Church in Wheaton, he served on the Missions Board, participated in short-term international missions trips, and was part of the leadership team of the Veritas adult community for several years. For the past five years, he was a small-group leader of the men's Saturday Morning Bible Study at Christ Community Church in St. Charles.

George is survived by his wife Linda; his daughter Allison (Don) Lippert of Glenview, Illinois; his daughter Tami (James) Yaegashi of Brooklyn, New York; his five grandchildren, Samuel Yaegashi, Ava Lippert, Sophie Lippert, Anna Yaegashi, and Maxwell Lippert; his brother Ronald Schuch of Southern Pines, North Carolina; and his eight nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Rose Schuch.

Visitation will be held in the Fireside at College Church in Wheaton, on Friday, December 14, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will take place the next day at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, in the sanctuary of College Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Leadership Resources in Palos Heights, Illinois .
