George Anthony Ruckstaetter, age 98, of Carol Stream, IL, formerly of Richland, Delton and Portage, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Windsor Park's Johnson Healthcare Center.

The son of the late George C. and Edna Ruckstaetter, he was born on September 27, 1918 in Chicago, IL. Shortly after graduating from Main High School in Park Ridge, Illinois, he entered the U. S. Army with a 3-year military tour in Europe during WW II.

After returning from the war, he held commercial sales positions in the metal industry in Michigan, Indiana and Illinois. He enjoyed boating and target shooting.

On September 1, 1940 he married Ruth Katherine Sturtz who predeceased him in 2014. Surviving are Nancy Ruckstaetter (wife of deceased son, Tom) of Log Cabin, TX and James (Patricia) Ruckstaetter of River Forest, IL; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Windsor Park, 124 Windsor Park Dr. in Carol Stream, IL.
