George A. Dee, age 79, a resident of Wheaton, IL for almost 50 years, passed away on Monday, October 2, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois.  He was born November 24, 1937 in Hartford City, Indiana to Garrett and Nedra Dee.

George graduated high school in 1956 from Routt High School in Jacksonville, Illinois and from Quincy College in Quincy, Illinois in 1960. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served on a mine sweeping ship during the Cuban Missle Crisis.  While at the Great Lakes Naval Base, he went on a blind date with a local teacher, Jayne Ahlstrom.  They fell in love and were married on May 26, 1962.  After his service they settled in Wheaton and he went to work for Allstate where he worked until his retirement in 1994.

He loved sports, especially golf and baseball and attended a great many of his son's and grandson's games.  He was an avid reader, especially of mysteries and had a great sense of humor and was the master of the one-liner.

He is survived by his wife, Jayne Dee, two children, Lisa (the Late Greg) Fister and Thomas (Lynn) Dee, both of Wheaton, five grandchildren, Ashley, Muriel and Garrett Dee, and Emerson and Bailey Fister, one great-grandchild, Gianna, one sister, Beverly (Jack) Groce, his twin brother, Father Neal Dee and nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held on Friday, October 6, from 5-7 p.m., followed by a service at 7:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. Interment will be held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
