Genevieve Lee, age 90, a resident of Windsor Park in Carol Stream, formerly of Overland Park, Kansas, died Saturday, August 27, 2011, at Windsor Park. She was born June 23, 1921 in Winston, Missouri to Henry and Zora Walp.
Genevieve graduated from Winston High School where she met Glenn H. Lee. They were married on April 7, 1940. Glenn served in WWII while Genevieve stayed with her two daughters at the family farm in Winston. After WWII they lived in the Kansas City area and eventually settled on a farm south of Kansas City. In 1960 they moved to Overland Park where she worked for Sears and he opened Lee Bike and Hobby Shop in Shawnee. After Glenn died in 1995 she eventually moved to Windsor Park to be near her family.
She was a faithful attender at Overland Park Bible Chapel for over 40 years and then at Bethany Chapel in Wheaton. She was an avid reader and enjoyed needlework and flowers.
She is survived by her daughters, Zoanna (Richard) Becker of Carpentersville. and Quinita (Walter) Whitla of Hoffman Estates, four grandchildren, Amy (Brian) Becker Grabek, Jennifer (Robert) Whitla Canfield, Richard (Elizabeth) Becker, and Bradley Whitla, and 11 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband, and her parents and one sister.
Services are pending.
Interment will take place at Johnson County Memorial Gardens in Overland Park, Kansas.
