Genevieve N. Haburn, nee Nichols, age 88, a resident of Brookfield, IL and formerly of Spencer, Iowa, died Monday, June 15. She was born on October 11, 1920 in Mountain View, Missouri.
On June 10, 1942 she married Arnold Haburn at Spirit Lake, Iowa. They had a farm in Iowa until moving to California. They soon moved back to Iowa and farmed at Terril, Iowa. In 1958 Arnold was killed in a farming accident. Genevieve moved with her five daughters to Spencer, Iowa, where she lived until 2002.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Spencer. She enjoyed homemaking and was a leader in the 4-H.
She is survived by five daughters, Mary Anne (Henry) Haburn-Lisowski of Brookfield, IL, Sharon (Bob) Dilling of Fairfax, Virginia, Janice (Phil) Shober of Colorado Springs, CO, Linda (Bill) North of Wheaton, IL and Caroline (Mike) Haburn of Vancouver, WA, 14 grandchildren, Teddy, Elena, Jennifer, Matthew, Kirsten, Arnie, Alicia, Charlie, Christopher, Anthony, Brittany, Sean, Jonathan, and Ian, and 4 great-grandchildren, Clara, Gretchen, Ethan and Harmony.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 20 from 2 until 4 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton, IL, where a funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer, Iowa.
