Gary O. Lofton Sr., age 63, a longtime resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. Born on October 25, 1960, in Geneva, IL, Gary was the cherished son of the late Richard and Pearl Lofton.

Gary spent his formative years in Wheaton, where he attended Wheaton Public Schools. Known for his athletic prowess, he particularly enjoyed playing softball. A skilled carpenter by trade, Gary was known for his handy work and craftsmanship. He was a laid-back individual with a passion for gardening, dogs, and his beloved truck. Many fond memories were made listening to the radio in his garage, a place where he often entertained friends and shared stories. Gary had a remarkable ability to connect with people, making friends easily and being at ease in any company.

In the heart of downtown Wheaton, Gary met Tina, his devoted wife and companion of over 46 years. Their enduring love story is a testament to their deep bond and shared life together.

Gary is survived by his loving wife, Tina Lofton; his three children, Gary (Alicia) Lofton Jr., Gregory Lofton, and Bryn (Arthur) Suplee; and seven adoring grandchildren, Briana Lofton, Tucker, Bryson, and Kendall Lofton, Brody and Giavana Greathouse, and Brynlee Suplee. He also leaves behind three siblings, Richard Lofton, Wayne Lofton, and Sandra Lofton, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will all miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen, his parents, his siblings, Linda and Norma, and his in-laws, Winifred Tash and Geno Rossi.

A visitation will be held on May 30, 2024, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home in Wheaton. A funeral service to honor and celebrate Gary's life will take place on May 31, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the same location. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
