Gary M. Hylland, age 69, a resident of Glen Ellyn, died peacefully at home of a brain tumor with family at his side on October 20, 2009. He was born on October 10,1940 in Mitchell, SD.

He served in the Navy from 1964-1969 where he received his pilot's training. He flew for American Airlines until his retirement in 2000. Gary enjoyed weekly breakfasts with the retired pilots, his B.R. Ryall YMCA membership and the Chicago Corvette Club, where he acted as treasurer for many years. He attended Glen Ellyn Bible Church for over 33 years.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Gayla (nee Anderson); and his son, Matthew; his brother, David (Rita) Hylland of Covina, CA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Deloyce and Irene Hylland; and his sister, Jane Houseman.

A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, October 23, 2009 from 3:00 p.m.until 9:00 p.m., at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, with a memorial service being held during that time at 7:00 p.m.
