Frederick G. Tyrrell's Obituary
Frederick G. Tyrrell, age 95, a resident of Wheaton, IL, died Friday, March 9, 2012, at home. He was born August 8, 1916 in Dodgeville, WI.
Fred served as a Presbyterian minister for 25 years in Iowa, Indiana and Illinois. He then earned a Doctorate from the University of Chicago and began teaching at Elmhurst College. He also served as the Director of the Evening and Summer Sessions. In retirement he volunteered with the local Kiwanis Club and also at church teaching adult classes.
He is survived by his wife, Carmine Marconi Tyrrell; two children, Sylvia Johnson of Chelsea, IA, and David (Sally) Tyrrell of Henderson, NV; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three step-children, Anthony (Martha Filipic) Marconi of Delaware, OH, Victoria (Dennis) Shirley of Herald, CA, and Evanne (Sonny) Denges of Oswego, IL; and six step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace, nee Lewis; his son, Bobby; and his two brothers, Charles and Arthur.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn, 550 N. Main, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton, IL.
In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be directed to Easter Seals DuPage and the Fox Valley Region, 1323 Bond Street, Suite 119, Naperville, IL 60563; or to First Presbyterian Church of Glen Ellyn.
