Fred C. Swanson, age 85, a resident of Sebring, Florida and formerly of the Chicagoland area, died suddenly, December 13, in Tampa, Florida. He was born in Chicago on September 17, 1921.
He married Joanna Granberg on December 23, 1944 while serving in the U.S. Air Force. For many years he served as a youth leader at the Elmwood Park Bible Church. After Joanna's death in 1985, he married Bernice Lundquist.
Fred is survived by his wife Bernice, two children, Carolynn (Jesse) James of Atlanta, and Richard (Jill) Swanson of Winfield, eight grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to Joanna, he was preceded in death by his brother, Rev. Robert Swanson and a sister, Evelyn Martins.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 16, at 1:00 p.m. at the Wheaton Bible Church, Main and Franklin St. in Wheaton. Friends may visit with the family from 12 until 1 p.m. Interment will be held privately at Ridgewood Cemetery in Des Plaines.
