Frank H. Stanek, age 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 22, at his home in Wheaton, Illinois. Frank was born in Chicago on July 13, 1928, to Frank J. and Georgina Stanek.

A veteran of the Korean War, Frank served his country while being stationed in Colorado and Alaska. After his discharge, Frank moved to unincorporated Wheaton where he built the home that he and his family lived in for the following 60-plus years. On September 25, 1954, Frank married his soulmate MaryEllen Ruvoli and together, in their Wheaton home, they raised three daughters.

Frank was a skilled electrician and proud member of I.B.E.W. Local 701. As a tradesman and man who worked with his hands, he enjoyed helping others by fixing whatever needed repair. Whether bicycles, cars or motorcycles, he was known as "Stanek The Mechanic" to all. He was always willing to help and teach anyone wanting to learn. At St. John the Baptist Church in Winfield he also volunteered many hours of trade service.

He is survived by his three daughters, Georgia (Lester) Finkle of Chicago, Gloria (Bruce) Matejka of Wheaton and Gina (Kevin) Kelly of Wheaton; five grandchildren – Jessica, Dana, Ryan, Justin and Frances; and one great-grandson, Tyler. He was preceded in death by his wife, MaryEllen, one sister, Mildred (Leroy) Stark and his parents.

A memorial mass will be planned at St John the Baptist Church in Winfield on a date to be determined.
