Francis "Frank" Michael McKee, Jr., 80, died August 31, 2016, with his family by his side surrounded by love in Winfield, Illinois.
He was born November 30, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois to Dorothy Elizabeth McKee (Enright) and Francis Michael McKee, Sr.
Frank attended Lindbloom High School in the West Englewood neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois and proudly served his country in the Army from 1958 to 1960, based at Redstone Arsenal in Madison County, Alabama. He then transferred to the Army Reserve through 1964. During this time, he was an Accountant for Aldens Catalog Company and was set up on a blind date with the young daughter, Patricia "Pat" Poturalski, of a co-worker (Grandma Kay). Frank and Pat were happily married on May 5th, 1962 at Notre Dame de Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. Frank became a Buyer for Spiegel Catalog Company and Pat was a Legal Secretary and Office Manager for French & Rogers Law Firm.
Frank was a kind, compassionate man with a strong faith. He was a member of St. Emeric's Catholic Church in Country Club Hills, Illinois; Infant Jesus of Prague Prayer Group; The Church of St. Gerard Mejalla in Minneapolis, Minnesota; St. Anthony Catholic Church in Frankfort, Illinois; and St. Michael Catholic Church in Wheaton, Illinois.
Frank was invested in cultivating relationships with others. He devoted much of his time and energy as a caregiver to family members, friends and community members, taking many families in need into his already full home over the years and always providing for others before himself.
He found joy in hosting neighborhood pool parties, boating on the lake, improvement projects crafting his houses into homes, playing cards around the kitchen table with friends and family, bowling in the local league, volunteering for his church and community, singing and music. Frank lived life with a song in his heart, performing in church choirs and musical ministry, shining onstage in church plays and musicals, and singing to his children, dedicating a special song for each one.
Frank McKee is survived by his sister, Dorothy Kage (McKee); brother and his brother's spouse, Jack and Ruthie McKee; 5 daughters, 1 son and their spouses, Kathleen Ernst and Monty Ernst, Dorothy Grantham, Mari and Tom Wenzinger, Linda and Jerry Rigatos, Theresa McKee, and Jimmy and Shawna McKee; and 13 grandchildren, Jessica, Jake, Amanda, Katelyn, Tori, Evan, Stefan, Grace, Hope, Isabella, Niko, Lyla and Hayven.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia McKee, and his sister Margeret "Peggy" McKee.
