Frank Peter Gowett, age 74, a resident of Winfield, IL, died Thursday, November 5, 2009 at the DuPage Convalescent Center in Wheaton, IL. He was born February 23, 1935 in Saranac Lake, NY, the third of John & Addie (nee Lent) Gowett's seven children - John Gowett, Mary Duhaime, Dorothy Bombard, Scott Gowett, Andy Gowett, & Dora LaVair.
Frank served as an airman in the US Air Force for 10 years in bases in South Korea, Alaska, Massachusetts, & New York. He honorably finished his service at Griffis AFB near Rome, NY.
Frank married Arlean R. Fountain on November 2, 1958 in Rome, NY where they continued to live and raise their five children – Dale S. McGowen of Rome, NY, Donnell D. Holtzclaw of Omaha, NE, Frank R. Gowett, Sr also of Rome, NY, Mark C. Gowett of Wilmington, NC, and Terry K. Gowett of Winfield, IL.
Following his US Air Force service Frank worked as a machine operator at Revere Copper & Brass. Frank loved the woods & mountains of upstate New York and enjoyed long fishing trips with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Frank and Arlean moved to Wheaton, IL in February 2007.
Frank is survived by his wife; brothers and sisters; children; nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
According to the wishes of Frank & Arlean there will be no formal service until such time as both of their remains may be returned to New York together. The family will return their ashes to the earth in Tupper Lake, NY by the resting place of Addie Lent Gowett.
Arlean appreciates the support and sympathy she has received. She requests that those who wish to express their love and concern may do so by support for the DuPage Convalescent Center. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank's honor may be made to the DuPage Convalescent Center where Frank received care since 2007. Arlean and their family give their thanks for the caring attention and service Frank received from the staff of the DuPage Convalescent Center.
