Frank R. Cozzi's Obituary

Frank R. Cozzi, age 80, a resident of Wheaton, formerly of Lombard, passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 26. He was born January 27, 1937 in Chicago to William and Angelina Cozzi.

Frank grew up in Chicago and graduated from Steinmetz High School in 1955. He loved to play baseball and played on "The Dukes", a team inducted into the Italian American Baseball Hall of Fame. He attended Regis College in Denver, CO and Loyola University. He served in the National Guard for many years. He worked in the insurance industry for over 30 years and retired in 1999 from State Farm Insurance. Since retirement, he constantly met people who he had insured and would greet them by saying "How you doin?"

He enjoyed sports and was a longtime Cubs and Bears fan. He enjoyed playing golf and kept himself in shape. In recent years he regularly worked out at the Good Samaritan Cardiac Rehab Center. He loved being with people and had lifelong friends and made friends throughout each phase of his life maintaining all the relationships. His main love in his life was his family.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Cozzi, four daughters, Mary Ann (Scott) Wilcer of Lombard, Diane Cozzi of Lombard, Carolyn (Dinesh) Chinthagada of Scottsdale, AZ, and Janet (Chris) Ahern of Lombard, step-son, William (Connie) Balzer of Bensenville, 11 grandchildren, Steven, Sarah, Amanda, Jacob, Mary, Joshua, Emma, Peter, Daniel, Katelyn and Emilie, one sister Catherine (John) Sewell of Villa Park and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his two dogs, "T.J." and "Maxx".

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (nee Rossi), his parents and two siblings, Rose Marie Ranaghan and William Cozzi Jr.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 30, from 3 to 9 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL where prayers will be held on Friday at 9:30 a.m. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, March 31, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, West St. and Illinois St, Wheaton. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois.
