Obituary

Frank W. Carbone, age 92, a longtime resident of Wheaton, died Tuesday, December 30 at Lexington Healthcare Center in Lombard. He was born on April 5, 1916 in Chicago.

During WWII he served in the South Pacific with the Army Air Corps where he witnessed the formal surrender of Japan. After his military service he worked for the federal government, retiring from the Department of Defense in 1978. He received many awards for his service.

He belonged to the Moose Lodge and loved to dance, play cards, golf and fish.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Delphia, two children, Patricia (Robert) Ryan of Wheaton, and Joseph (Diane) Carbone of Carol Stream, four grandchildren, Patricia (Nick) Pinchok, John (Wendy) Ryan, Steven (Beth) Carbone, and James (Denise) Carbone, six great-grandchildren, Shannon, Cole, Megan, Adam, Claire, and Caitlyn, and one sister, Marie DiFrancisco of Woodridge.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. A mass will be held on Saturday, January 3, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church, Cole St. just east of Main St., Wheaton. Prayers will be held at the funeral home at 9:30 am.

Memorials may be directed to the Interfaith Food Pantry, 345 S. President St., Carol Stream, IL 60188 where Frank was a volunteer.
