Frances Shilling, age 95, a resident of Wheaton since 1947, joined her husband in the presence of her Lord in Heaven on Monday, June 21, 2021. This would have been their seventy-fourth wedding anniversary. Frances was born February 7, 1926 in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania to Raymond and Helen Snoke.

Frances grew up on a farm in the hills of Pennsylvania.  She graduated as class valedictorian awarded a full scholarship to Penn State University.  She was unable to accept needing to work to support her family during WWII.  When the war ended she attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.  She married Daniel Shilling June 21, 1947, and permanently moved to Wheaton, Illinois to attend Wheaton College.  They raised six children and attended the First Baptist Church of Wheaton their entire married life.

Frances loved people so she chose jobs where she could serve others.  She was a joyful, well-loved hostess at Tops Big Boy Restaurant from 1967 to 1973.  She was lured away to work at College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn in 1973, where she worked as head cashier/bookkeeper until she retired in 1986. Frances willingly volunteered as needed. More importantly, she impacted and encouraged countless people with her bold and steadfast faith.

Frances and Daniel had a long, wonderful retirement. They spent 25 years living in Bradenton, Florida for the winter months. She loved to read the Bible, pray, share faith, sew, garden, and take cruises with family.

Frances has six children, Daniel (Marie) Shilling, Dwayne (Vicki) Shilling, David (Kim) Shilling, Dotty (Karl) Mohr, Dwight (Sue) Shilling, Debra (Cory) Soehren, fourteen grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild. She loved her family with her whole heart and prayed for each one individually everyday.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Daniel; her siblings Eleanor McDougall, John Snoke, Miriam Saleem and William Snoke.

A visitation will be held at Highpoint Church, 1310 N Main St, Wheaton, IL 60187 , on Monday, June 28, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery.
