Faye Kallal, age 82, a resident of Winfield, IL, passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.  She was born March 17, 1942 in Laurel, Mississippi to Leonard IV & Thelma Jordan.

Faye grew up in Laurel, Mississippi and was a musical prodigy. Starting piano lessons at age four, before her feet could reach the floor, she excelled musically throughout her years in the Laurel public schools. By her senior year, Faye achieved an outstanding musicianship that would stay with her for life. She also played the flute and was a majorette in the Laurel High School band.

Faye attended the University of Iowa, graduating in 1963. There she belonged to the Delta Delta Delta sorority and was named Dream Girl of PiKA fraternity. At Iowa, Faye's piano technique was judged astonishing, yet she decided against a career in music. Instead, she was more interested in teaching children and majored in education. After graduation, Faye taught elementary school for a short time in Texas and in Saint Louis, MO.

It was in St. Louis where she met the love of her life, John E. Kallal. They were happily married for 56 years, from 1966 until John's passing in 2022. Following John's career path, they moved to Goshen, NY in 1968 where their daughter Lynn was born, and then returned to Cicero, IL in 1970 where their son John Charles was born.  Faye and John raised their children in Libertyville, IL until moving to Cary, NC in 1993. Faye enjoyed playing in the Ladies' golf league at Prestonwood Country Club, as well as volunteering for the various PGA events. While living in Cary, Faye's mother, Thelma, moved from Laurel to join them in her final years.

Following the births of their three grandchildren, Faye and John moved back to Illinois, settling in Winfield, IL so they could be close to their families and see their grandchildren grow. Faye's beloved dog, Buster, kept her busy with walks, games of fetch, and snuggling for over ten years.  Buster has been a loving and comforting companion for Faye, especially since her husband's passing.

She leaves behind her daughter Lynn (Bryan Kadel) and her son John C. (Laurie Benda). She also is survived by granddaughter Jana Kadel and grandsons Jack Kallal and Andrew Kadel. She is also survived by her brother Jim M. (Rachel) Jordan; her brother-in-law Thomas J. (Helen) Kallal; along with a niece, six nephews, and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband John and her brother-in-law William T. (Roberta) Kallal.

A visitation will be held on Monday, November 25, 2024, from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. The service will be livestreamed through this link: Funeral Service for Faye Kallal .
