Everett Russell Ackerson, age 91, a longtime resident of Massachusetts and currently of Wheaton, IL, died peacefully at home on Sunday, January 30, 2011, surrounded by his family.

He was a graduate of Braintree High School and received a Chemical Engineering Degree from MIT. He moved to Palatine, IL in 1974, retired to Wilmington, NC in 1986, and recently moved back to Illinois to be near family. He was a veteran of WWII who loved golf and attending high school and MIT reunions. He was always actively involved in the Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and Sunday School Superintendant.

Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Patricia, children, Karin (Joseph) Potoshnick, Joan (Jeffrey) Cramm, Kristen (David) Prahl and Thomas Ackerson, grandchildren Esther (Thomas) VanDrunen, Matthew (Nicole) Potoshnick, Elizabeth (Stephan) Leman, Meagan (Zachary) Wilkerson, Steven Cramm, Ryan Abramic, Chelsea Abramic, Linnea Abramic, Michael Prahl, and Jack Prahl, and great grandchildren, Noah and Ella Potoshnick and Annika and Isaac VanDrunen.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linnea, his parents, Herbert and Ethel Ackerson and brothers Alfred and Robert Ackerson.

Services and interment will be held privately.
