Eva C. Hausmann

December 27, 1919 – February 17, 2017

Funeral services for Eva C. Hausmann will be held at 11 am on Thursday, February 23 ^rd , 2017 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church 525 63 ^rd St Downers Grove, IL. A visitation at the church begins at 9:30 am.

Eva Caroline nee Olson Hausmann, 97, entered eternal life with her Savior Jesus in heaven at Brookdale Senior Living, Darien. Christian Funeral Services in Wheaton, IL is in charge of the arrangements.

Eva was born in Scarville, Iowa to Jacob and Bertha nee Sande Olson. She graduated from Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, MN where she met her future husband, Wilfred.

Wilfred and Eva were united in marriage on June 25, 1941. They were married for 53 years until Wilfred's death in 1994. Eva was a nurse's aide while they lived in Riverdale, IL. She taught first and second grade for 10 years at Jerusalem Lutheran School in Morton Grove. Eva volunteered playing the piano at Sunday school and sang in the choir at Jerusalem, as well. She enjoyed working for many years in the bakery department at Marshall Field's in Skokie. Nana loved to bake pies and was also known for her cookies among her grandchildren. She was an avid gardener of both flowers and vegetables and created many beautiful oil paintings as a hobby. Her faith was an important part of her life including daily Bible study.

Eva was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Nils Oesleby, her brother Harry, her grandson Zachary Hausmann, her husband Wilfred, son-in-law Ron Swoboda, her sister Katherine Oesleby, sister-in-law Signe Olson, daughter-in-law Joyce Hausmann, and brother-in-law Duane Hausman.

Eva is survived by children Beth Swoboda, George Hausmann, and Barbara (Erik) Guldberg, 11 grandchildren, Bill (Josephine) Swoboda, Scott Swoboda, Rob Swoboda, Hans (Traci) Hausmann, Heidi (Joseph) Vrable, Lars Hausmann, Lara (J.D.) Polzin, Lisa (Silas) Warren, Kari Guldberg, Nils (Annie) Guldberg, Kjerstin Guldberg; 17 great-grandchildren Hans Jr., Joshua, Raine, Tristin, Nicole M., Jacob, Jenna, Conor, Haley, Remy, Marley, Diana, Nicole S., Dylan, Hannah, Thorsen, Conan, two great-great-grandchildren Grace and Logan, sister-in-law Helen Hausman, and beloved nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated for Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Downers Grove or to the charity of your choice.

Interment services will be private at Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie, IL.
