Obituary

Ethel Strandt, age 77, a resident of Geneva, IL and formerly of Wheaton, died Monday, December 19 at The Tillers in Oswego. She was born April 27, 1934 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to Carl and Ida Vetter.

Ethel was raised in Racine, Wisconsin where she graduated from high school. She went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin in Madison with a degree in Occupational Therapy. She met Jack Strandt while working at Hines Hospital in 1962. They married on June 25, 1962. They lived in Wheaton from 1972 until she recently moved to Geneva. In 1974, Ethel founded Healthcare Consultants, serving the developmentally disabled in long term care facilities. She retired in 2010. She and Jack enjoyed entertaining friends and family, and traveling throughout North America in their motor home.

She is survived by her daughter, Heidi (Patrick) Andrews of St. Charles, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2000, her sister, Eleanor McClain and her brother, Carl Heinz Vetter and her parents.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 22 from 3 to 8 p.m. with a funeral service at 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. Interment will be held privately at Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
