Ethel Louise Oler, age 80, a resident of Wyndemer Senior Living Campus in Wheaton, and formerly a longtime resident of Winfield. She was born on February 18, 1927 in Galesburg to Ralph and Evah Rogers.
Louise graduated from high school in Galesburg and then attended the University of Illinois on an academic scholarship where she graduated with a degree in business in 1952. She married Thomas Oler in 1948, whom she met at the university after he returned from service in the US Navy during WWII. They took up residence in Winfield in 1956. She worked at Chicago Golf Club for several years until becoming a full time mother. She returned to work as a case manager for the Child Support Division at the Du Page County Courthouse, where she served for 19 years.
She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton, serving as part-time church librarian in retirement. She also worked as a volunteer at the courthouse's Safe Harbor program. She was a generous contributer to wildlife protection and preservation as well as law enforcement memorial foundations.
She is survived by two sons, Mark (Margaret) Oler of Joliet and Van (Jennifer) Oler of Cincinnati, OH, two grandchildren, Candace and David and nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband in 1990, an infant son, Thomas Alan, her parents and a brother, Eugene Rogers.
