Obituary

Ethel M. Kinney, 94, passed away in Carol Stream, December 6, 2011 at the Windsor Park Retirement Community where she had resided and where she received tender care for eleven years.

Ethel was born April 5, 1917 in Chicago, IL and was one of six children born to Marie and John Hansen who emigrated from Denmark.

The depression years were hard for the family, especially after the death of Ethel's father, when she was ten years of age. Ethel was able to complete high school and secretarial school. She met Irving Kinney at Midwest Bible Church in Chicago, and they married in 1937. Her secretarial skills helped immensely as they started a printing company, Printwell Press in Chicago. She was a
faithful, helpful partner to her husband in their life together and in the business until his death in 1985. She enjoyed the out-of-doors, gardening, singing in church choirs, and social activities with family and friends. She planted and cared for two lovely gardens at the family homes in Norwood Park (Chicago)
and Medinah, IL

Her strong faith was a characteristic part of her life journey. As the years took their toll on her life, her faith in God sustained her. In her last months she would sing the hymns of the church with such confidence.

She is survived by her two daughters, Carol Brushwyler (husband Ron), of Wheaton, IL, and Marlene Moers (husband Don) of Dawsonville, GA. She leaves six grandchildren, Kevin (Gloria) Brushwyler, Melissa (Johnny) Rouse, Lisa (Mark) Larson, Diana (Mark) Turner, Mark (Margaret) Moers and Kurt (Cassie) Brushwyler and twelve great grandchildren. She is also survived by her older sister, Bernice Hoiriis of Harmony, PA

A Memorial Service will be held on December 20 at 2:00 at Windsor Park Manor. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be given to the Windsor Park Benevolent Fund, 124 Windsor Park Drive, Carol Stream, IL 60188.
