Obituary

Ethel Oberg Dresser, age 92, a resident of Carol Stream and formerly of Wheaton for 75 years, died Friday, October 2nd, at Windsor Park in Carol Stream, Illinois.

She was born October 22nd, 1922 in Oakland, Nebraska to Ernest and Evangeline Oberg, both of Swedish heritages.

She married Richard R. Dresser of Wheaton in 1939 and raised two sons.

She was a member of College Church in Wheaton for over 70 years, where she volunteered her services. For many years, she was president of DuPage Women's Bowling Association and was awarded Illinois Woman Bowler of the Year. She also volunteered for the Billy Graham Telephone Ministry, Central DuPage Hospital and was known in the neighborhood as a regular judge for elections.

Born on a farm in a small Swedish town in Nebraska, Ethel was the tallest girl in high school, played girl's basketball, and became a big fan of Michael Jordan's Bulls. She was a working mother and a very independent spirit. Ethel loved to travel - with her family, with church friends and across the nation to her many bowling conventions over the years. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life.

Ethel is survived by her son, Robert (Jeanne) Dresser of Wheaton; daughter-in-law, Peggy Dresser of The Villages, FL; brother, Robert Oberg of South Sioux City, NE; and sister, Terry Blank of Brea, CA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Sam Dresser of Wheaton and Charlie (Jade) Dresser of Addison; and her great-grandchildren, Claire, Ryan, Vivian and Kaya Dresser; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Richard R. Dresser; her son, Richard E. Dresser; her brother, Stanley Oberg; and her sisters, Helen Grove and Eunice Oberg.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 24th at 11:00 a.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home,304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. There will be a short visitation before the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Interment at Wheaton Cemetery will be private.
