Esther Endresen, age 97, a resident of Wheaton, IL and formerly a longtime resident of Whiting, NJ, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. She was born December 3, 1917 in Brooklyn, NY to Johan and Amalia Johannsen.

Esther chose to attend the Girls Commercial School in Manhattan to prepare for a career in business administration. On June 22, 1945 she married Walter Endresen. She worked in Manhattan for IT&T until she chose to stay home to raise her two daughters. Once her girls were school age she returned to work. She enjoyed working and an active lifestyle including travel.

Her faith was a central part of her life and she was active at Central Presbyterian Church in Huntington, NY and Ocean County Evangelical Free Church in Whiting, NJ.

She is survived by her daughter, Arlene (Michael) Ross of Wheaton and Jean Cummings of Boynton Beach, Florida, two grandchildren, Carin (Marcel) Goncalves and Michael (Melissa Perez) Cummings and three great-grandchildren, Kyran Russell, Annabelle Cummings and Abegail Cummings.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter in 1993 and her brother, John Herbert Johannsen in 1992.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 17, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Rd., Whiting, NJ, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 18, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Brigadier General William Doyle Veteran Cemetery in Arneytown, New Jersey.
