Esther Florence Amundson was born on July 9th, 1945. She was the second daughter of Vernon and Myrtle Amundson. Vernon had just completed service with the US Navy and the young family settled into life on the near north side of Chicago, a short distance from the Moody Church. It was at the Moody Church where Esther and her sister and the family spent the next ten years and were involved in many aspects of the ministry. Esther came to know Christ as her Savior as a young girl through the influence of her Christian family and the Moody Church Sunday School.

In the mid 1950s, the family moved to Wheaton Illinois where Esther's father had built a new home and began work as a carpenter for Wheaton College. During their years in Wheaton, the family attended the Glen Ellyn Bible Church. Esther graduated high school in Wheaton and attended Illinois State University in Normal, IL where she earned a BA in science education, majoring in special education. She spent her entire teaching career in Special Ed, loving the children with whom she worked. During the early 1970s Esther taught children with special needs in a private setting at an embassy home in Greece. She came to love Greece and the Greek Isles and made dear friendships while working there.

Back in the US, Esther continued teaching special education for many years at the Hope D. Wall School in the West Aurora school district. However, health issues and physical problems began to take a toll on Esther. She struggled for many years with mobility but remained an area companion for her aging mother who lived at Windsor Manor in Carol Stream. Esther was a dear friend to many until her death on January 20, 2020. Esther is now absent from her body but present with her Lord.

Esther is survived by her sister Myrtle LaVern Amundson of Orlando, Florida, many cousins and dear friends.

A Visitation will be held Sunday, February 2nd, from 2:30 p.m. until the start of a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home 304 N. Main St, Wheaton IL, 60187.
