Rev. Ernest Alfred "Al" Jenkins, age 94, a resident of Carol Stream IL, entered into Eternal Life on December 16, 2020, at Belmont Village.  He was born August 10, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan to Ernest F. & Zoey Jenkins. He met his wife Katherine D. Griffin at Highland Park Baptist Church. They were married on August 27, 1948. He was ordained through the American Baptist Churches/USA, in May 1951 at Judson Baptist Church, Oak Park, IL. While at Northern Baptist Theological Seminary Rev. Jenkins held many positions from 1964 to retiring as Dean in 1994. He was the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dean of the Seminary and Professor of Education and Ministry. He was a long-time resident of Wheaton, Illinois. In the later years of his life, Al enjoyed his home projects, gardening and always his love of the Lord was in all he did throughout his life. He was a chaplain, Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir, taught bible study, was an actively involved member of Christ Community Church in Wheaton, IL.

Rev. Ernest Jenkins is survived by his daughters, Sandra Boyd-Lee, Joan (Ralph) Kober and Son-In-Law Kris Konyha and granddaughters Katherine, Sarah and Bethany Boyd-Lee,. He was preceded in death by his wife Katherine D. Griffin; daughter Judith (Kris Konyha) Jenkins, and sisters Lilian (John) Vasi, Zoey (Howard Folian) and (Joe) Auwers, and Ruth (Neil) Duff.

A private interment will take place on August 12, 2021.
