Eric Davison Brown, age 87, a resident of Wheaton, IL and formerly a resident of Delavan, WI, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 3, 2015. He was born April 5, 1927 in Arlington, Virginia to Dr. Thomas Benjamin and Leah Brown.
Eric graduated from Washington-Lee High School at age 16. While at William and Mary College he served in the US Army during WWII. After the war he completed his Bachelor of Science from Penn State University in Chemistry, and his Master's Degree in Analytical Chemistry at George Washington University. He married his childhood sweetheart, Grace Kathryn Wells, on June 18, 1949. He initially worked for the National Bureau of Standards in Washington D.C. The majority of his career was as a research chemist at Dow Corning Corporation in Midland, Michigan for 28 years. Eric created numerous patents and contributed to several publications while working at Dow Corning. In retirement he enjoyed golfing, vacations, travel to family and exploring the west. He also wrote his autobiography. He was a member of the Gideon's International, American Chemical Society, and the Wheaton Evangelical Free Church.
He was a very intelligent man who was an eloquent speaker. He enjoyed singing as a way of praising his Savior and his Christian faith was evident in his life.
He is survived by his children, Karen (Patrick) Sheren of Wheaton, and B. Douglas (Judy) Brown of Hershey, PA, three grandchildren, Emily Sheren, Jordan Sheren and Eric T. Brown and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Grace Kathryn on May 6, 2009, and four siblings, A. Charles, Eleanor, Phillip and C. Kingsley Brown.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, from 4-8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 14, at 11:00 a.m. at the Wheaton Evangelical Free Church.
