Emma A. Brown, age 94, a former resident of Wheaton for 50 years, died Wednesday, January 2, at the Brentwood North Healthcare Center in Riverwoods, Illinois. She was born on April 6, 1913 in Cooperstown, Wisconsin.
She graduated from Denmark High School in 1929. She attended North Central College for one year before going into Nurses training at the Mayo Clinic and graduating in 1935. She worked as a private duty nurse for many years in Wheaton and Glen Ellyn and at Edward Hospital in Naperville. She also worked at Du Page Convalescent Center in Wheaton for 3 1/2 years.
She is survived by her children, Robert (Grace) Brown of Luxemburg, WI, Mary Small of Chamblee, GA, Dave (Nancy) Brown of Wheaton, Martie (Joe) Frenzel of Libertyville, and Jim (Kathy) Brown of St. Charles, MO; 12 grandchildren, Christopher (Carole) Brown of Stoughton, WI, Laura (Mike) Brophy of Waukesha, WI, Jeffrey (Beckey) Brown of Winfield, Scott (Jennifer) Brown of Wheaton, Skip (Kathy) Brown of Wheaton, Eric (Lesley) Brown of Wheaton, Maggie, Katie and Brian Frenzel of Libertyville, Kelly (Alex) Stover of St. Charles,MO, and Brittany and Caitlin Brown of St. Charles, MO; 15 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Carolyn (Clarence) Blomquist.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold K. Brown in 2001, and 6 siblings, Gustav, Henry, John and Fred Busse and Martha Melziva and Esther Schneider.
Family services will be held at the Hultgren Funeral Home in Wheaton. Interment will take place at Wheaton Cemetery.
