Elwood Michaelis's Obituary

Elwood W. "Mike" Michaelis, age 87, a resident of Wheaton, died Sunday, February 15 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. He was born December 20, 1921 in Woodstock, IL.

He served in the Navy during World War II aboard the USS Barr which survived a torpedo strike. They towed the ship into Casablanca. He is survived by his two children, Stephen (Donna) of Peoria, AZ, and Diane of Lombard; two grandchildren, Stefanie (Chris Wille) Michaelis, and Stephen Henry; his sister, Marilyn Fox; his brothers, Donald (Vivian) and Walt (Judy); and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 40 years, Irene.
