November 7, 1933 – March 8, 2019
Elsie Alta (nee Burnier) Weeks, a resident of Windsor Park, in Carol Stream, Illinois, passed into the presence of her Lord on Friday, March 8th, 2019 at the age of 85.
She was born November 7, 1933 in Brownstown, IL to Eugene and Henrietta Burnier. Elsie lost her father at a young age and spent her early years in Chicago, IL with her mother, step-father Al Clausen, two sisters, one brother and two step-sisters. The family attended Elmwood Park Bible Church, where she accepted Jesus as her Savior at a very young age. She met her future husband, James Harvey Weeks, at the High C (High Crusaders) Christian Club at Steinmetz High School. They were married June 2, 1951 and were married for 67 years until her death.
She was a dedicated mother to her six children and then provided loving foster care for more than 20 new-born children over the years. She was an avid reader, loved gardening and was a faithful church participant at Lombard Gospel Chapel since 1974.
As her children became adults and were scattered across the country, Stormy Lake in Wisconsin became the place that the family gathered and shared many wonderful times together. During these years she also attended Conover Evangelical Free Church where she thoroughly enjoyed the company of the Joyful Seniors.
She is survived by her husband, James Weeks, children Marilyn (Duncan) Mathieson, Margaret (Michael) Sayler, Laurance (Kathy) Weeks, Susan (Al) Field, Janet (Tim) Carrick, and Carolyn (Clarence) Martin, 24 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren plus 2 on the way. Also surviving her is sister Barbara Biarnesen, brother Francis (Sonny) (Mary) Burnier, step-sisters Donna (Dick) Barron, and Pat Hahn, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Edith.
