Elroy H. Gohlke, age 79, a resident of Arlington Heights, IL, and formerly of Wheaton,IL for 40 years, died Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, IL. He was born October 12, 1936 in Alpena, MI.
"El" graduated from Valparaiso University in Indiana and was a huge Valpo basketball fan. He worked for Standard Oil of Indiana (currently BP) for many years. He later formed his own company, Norros Corporation. He was a member at St. John Lutheran Church where he served as Past President of the school and the congregation, and also served as an Elder. He was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed spending time at deer camp with his brothers and son. He loved to play golf and to read.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years; his son, Michael Gohlke of Oswego, IL, and Mary Beth Vines of Clarkston, MI; and his granddaughter, Taylor Vines.
He was preceded in death by his six brothers and sister, Agnes Chapman, Fritz Gohlke, Marty Gohlke, Harry Gohlke, Walter Gohlke and Arthur Gohlke.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at
St. John Lutheran Church
, 410 N. Cross Street, Wheaton, IL 60187. Interment will be private at Wheaton, Cemetery.
