Elmer B. Pierce, age 91, a longtime resident of Wheaton, died Thursday, March 23, at Wynscape Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wheaton. He was born August 13, 1914 in Shelton, NE.
Elmer graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Law before entering the Army during World War II. He served in North Africa and Italy, ending his military career as a Captain. After the war he continued his legal career at Chicago Title Insurance Company in Wheaton and Geneva where he retired in 1979. Later he joined the law firm of Peregrine, Stime, Newman, Ritzman, & Bruckner Ltd where he worked for twenty years. He was a Past Worshipful Master of the Wheaton Masonic Lodge, a member of Faith Lutheran Church since 1951, and a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Phi Delta Phi fraternities.
He is survived by his two children, Deborah (Robert Fine) Pierce of Naperville, and Geoffrey (Linda) Pierce of Lisle; two grandchildren, Benjamin and William Pierce; and his nephew, Frederic Bunge of West Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Edna, nee Johnson.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 26, from 3-7 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 27, at 11:00 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church, 41 N. Park Blvd., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery.
