Ellen B. Rowley, 75, a resident of Winfield, died February 10 at Central Dupage Hospital in Winfield. She was born January 27, 1931 in Stanton, NE.
Mrs. Rowley was a supervisor with the Chicago regional office of FEMA.. She also worked for FAA, and the Rock Island Arsenal. She was a member of Gary Memorial United Methodist Church where she sang in the church choir, participated in the Resale House, volunteered with PADS, and the Church Circle. She enjoyed golf, traveling, singing with the Sweet Adelines, and reading. She was also a good water skiier.
She is survived by her husband, Jack; her son, Ken Karlix; her daughters, Sandra Papilla, and Karen Smith; grandchildren, Dillon, Kiersten, and Troy Karlix, Joel, Rachel, John Padilla, and Meka and Ryan Smith; her brother, Harry F. Schultze; and her sister, Rhoda Reid.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Arthur, William, Russel, and Carl "Pete" Schultze.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 11, at 11:00 A.M. at Gary Memorial United Methodist Church, 224 N. Main Street, in Wheaton with Rev. Ed Taveirne officiating.
Interment will be at a later date at Greenview Memorial Gardens in Moline, IL.
