Ellen E. Johnson, age 92, a resident of Westmont, IL and formerly of Hanley Hills, MO, died at home on Thursday, September 17. She was born on April 1, 1917 in Patton, MO to Joseph and Mary Statler.

She grew up on a farm near Patton, MO and graduated from Patton High School. During the war she worked in defense plants in Oklahoma, California and St. Louis. She also worked at Wagner Electric in St. Louis. In 1949 she married L. Raymond Johnson. She lived in Hanley Hills for 52 years, where she raised her daughter and worked as a seamstress. Later, she worked for Land Title Insurance. She delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. In 2002 she moved to Westmont to be with her daughter.

She was an active member at Kingsland Memorial Presbyterian Church and later at Brentwood Bible Church in St. Louis. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting.

Ellen is survived by her daughter Sue (Tom) Newsom of Westmont, 2 sister-in -laws, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and brothers and sisters.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 22 at 11:00 A.M. at Brentwood Bible Church, 8820 Lawn Ave. in St. Louis. Friends may visit with the family from 10 to 11 A.M. Interment will be held at Valhalla Cemetery in St. Louis.
