Obituary
Elizabeth C. "Betty" Shimp, age 61, a lifelong resident of Wheaton, died Thursday, November 3, 2005 after a three year battle with cancer. She was born January 20, 1944 in Chicago.
Betty was Operations Manager at Quest Books at the Theosophical Society in Wheaton where she had worked for 20 years. A member of the DuPage Art League, she was an accomplished artist. She was a longtime member of the Gary Memorial United Methodist Church in Wheaton. Betty was a selfless, giving person who cared tremendously for others. She was a lover of the arts, gardening, and the ocean waves. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Homer; her son, Alan (Laura) of Vernon, CT; her sister, Peggy Speer of Florence, OR; and her brother, John (Susy) Capps of Seattle, WA; her aunts, Margaret Leengran of Orlando, FL, and Elaine (Gene) Heskett of Downers Grove; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruth Capps.
A memorial service to be held at Gary Memorial United Methodist Church, December the 8th at 2PM. Interment is private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the DuPage Art League, 218 W. Front St., Wheaton, IL 60187.
