Elizabeth Jane Pitra, age 87, a resident of Wheaton, IL, died Monday, June 18 in St. Charles, IL. She was born July 28, 1924 in Oak Park, IL.

Betty was a long time resident of Wheaton, and was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Warrenville. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family, her friends, and her faith in God were the most important aspects of her life.

She is survived by her children, Priscilla (William) Sheldrake of Indianapolis, IN, and David (Wendy) of St. Charles; her grandchildren, Amy (Chris) Eddy, Anne (Adam) Niess, Heather (Mike) Leppert, Spencer and Bradley Nelson; three great-grandchildren; and her sisters Marjorie Brunn of Pasadena, CA and Marilyn Sitka of San Rafael, CA.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Rev. Howard H. Nelson, in 1951; her second husband, Edward J. Pitra, in 1985; her son, Paul Howard Nelson, in 1948; and her brother, Robert Beesley, in 2011.

A visitation will be held Thursday, June 21, from 6:45 – 7:30 p.m. at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 29w260 Batavia Rd, Warrenville, IL, followed by a memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Interment will be at Bayside Cemetery in Sturgeon Bay, WI in the chapel, where the family will visit with friends at 11:00 a.m. An interment service will follow at roughly 12:00 p.m.
