Elizabeth Lewshenia, nee Zernov, age 95, of Edelstein, IL, formerly of Wheaton, IL, died Thursday, January 29, 2015 at home.
She was born December 14, 1919 in Sooloiha, province of Tver, Russia. She was the fifth of nine children, four brothers and four sisters, all who have predeceased her.
She married Constantine Lewshenia on June 16, 1945 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where they served as missionaries in the Russian Bible Institute. Elizabeth spent her life as a missionary to the Russian-speaking world, primarily by radio from radio station HCJB in Quito, Ecuador.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Constantine, on March 15, 2003.
She is survived by her two children, Ruth (Bill) Holmes and David (Pam) Lewshenia; eight grandchildren, Jean Gray, Juanita (David) Redfield, Jim (Chamonie) Kopp, Erika (Rob) Arnhart, Erinn Holmes, Henry (Lyndsay) Holmes, Cassie (Jon) DeHart, and Trey Cormia; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Wheaton Bible Church, 27W500 North Ave. in West Chicago. Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. A graveside service will follow in Wheaton Cemetery.
