Elizabeth "Betsey" Eben, age 74, a resident of Naperville and formerly a longtime resident of Wheaton, died Friday, March 7, 2008 at Edward Hospital in Naperville. She was born on May 19, 1933 in Lancaster, Ohio to Melvin and Mary Donkle.
Mrs. Eben worked for district #200 as a teacher and then for Du Page County as an administrator and Director of Volunteer Services/Housing Department. She was a volunteer extrordinaire and a member of AAUW, DAR, YWCA, Newcomers Club, Du Page Community Foundation Board Member Emeritus, and Trinity Episcopal Church.
Betsey was the beloved wife of 49 years to Craig Eben, the loving and devoted mother of David (Mary Koss) Eben, Suzanne (Thomas) Taddeucci, and Carole (Al Lepinski) Eben, the awesome "gramcracker" of Leigh, Alyson and Megan Taddeucci, the dear sister of David (Jean) Donkle and much loved aunt of Mary (Cara Moss) Donkle and Steven Donkle. Betsey is loved and respected by many friends and colleagues. She will be greatly missed and treasured always by those who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and in-laws, Edward and Lenore Eben.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 14, at 4:00 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 130 N. West St. in Wheaton with The Rev. Canon Linda Potter officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m.
