Elizabeth Barker, age 79, a resident of Sun City in Huntley, IL, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 20, 2018.  She was born on March 27, 1939 in Boryslawice, Poland.

Elizabeth, also known as Ela, was an articulate, vibrant individual, full of unending energy and care for others. She often opened her house to hospitality, using her love of cooking to care for those in need.  Elizabeth was devoted to her family and was happiest to have her grandchildren gather around her diningroom table. Ela used her education in horticulture to create a thriving landscape around her home and a vibrant garden. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her two daughters, Dorothy (Craig) Chinchilla, a longtime resident of Glen Ellyn, Alexandra (Michael) Amberg of Sperry, OK; two step-sons, Joseph (Rita) Barker of LaGrange, Edward (Penny) Barker of Lockport; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husbands, Wojciech Gawrylczyk and Robert Barker, and six siblings.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 26, 2018 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church in Winfield. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
